Chairmans' Welcome
Welcome to the Website of the Portishead Small Boat and Sea Angling Club.
Our club is here to help anglers learn how to catch fish safely in what can be very dangerous waters for the inexperienced. Some of our senior members have fished these waters for over 50 years and have built up a vast knowledge which they are willing to share with new members.
Whatever size boat you have or however little or much experience you may have of fishing in local waters, all are welcome to our club meetings.
These are held on the 2nd Monday of every month at 7.30pm in Portishead.
We are always looking for new members and if you would like more information about joining the club please contact Steve at Reel Fun on 01275 848652 or email contact@psbsac.co.uk

About us
The Club has been in existence for over 30 years and was originally formed by local dinghy owners who wished to have a slipway built at Portishead to launch their boats into the Bristol Channel.
Since then the club has continued to bring together small boat owners and their crews to encourage and foster interest in the sport of sea angling. The opening of the Marina in 2001 has ensured ease of access to fabulous inshore fishing throughout the year with species ranging from prime bass and cod to the hard fighting conger eel and specimen sized thornback ray.
Members of the club are able to take advantage of shared experiences and while at sea clearly recognise the safety benefits of fishing with colleagues in close proximity and with radio communication should difficulties arise.
For those with a more competitive streak opportunities arise on a regular basis to take part in club competitions where friendly rivalry results in the awarding of prizes for the biggest catch. As a club we meet on the 2nd Monday of the month to conduct business, to listen to the occasional guest speaker and to enlighten and amuse each other with tales of fish and fishing - real and imaginary! You are most welcome to join us.
Fish Species
Depending on the season, we catch cod, bass, dover sole, conger eels and some of the biggest thornback rays in UK waters, smooth hounds (a small shark), dogfish, bull huss as well as other species which from time to time include whiting, flounders, silver eels, rockling, other large rays and even the odd haddock.
Anglers travel to our local waters from many parts of the UK every autumn and winter to fish for the large shoals of cod that swim up the Bristol Channel. Yes, subject to tides and wind the winter is usually our best season.
